Keeping Hair Healthy w/ Weave and Such

Check out this post with tips on keeping your hair healthy under your weave or for those of you growing out your relaxer.

Healthy Hair Tips From Celebrity Stylist Shedelle Holmes

I especially like....

If your hair breaks easily without much tension and your hair feels dry and brittle, moisture is needed. If the strand seems to be extra stretchy, your hair feels mushy when wet and stretches when you comb it, you’re in need of protein. A strand with the proper balance will be strong, and take the right amount of force to break. Protein is very important in hair health and growth retention. An intake of protein in your diet is important including vitamins like omega 3.

All Things Girly: Black Onyx Polish

Polish is an all time Passion of mine. Fall is my favorite season for polish and I am definitely an OPI girl.

Here are a few pictures of My current nail look "ONCE YOU GO BLACK, YOU NEVER GO BACK"

OPI color: Black Onyx

I also have one blinged out finger on each hand, I was looking for a little razzle dazzle this time around.
To get the bling on the nail, I simply polished with with a clear polish (don't use quick dry) then I used my nail dotter, put a little clear on the tip to pick up the rhinestones. Then I put the them on the nail and applied a few coats of clear on top.

Hopefully, I will get a week out of this polish. Wonder what color I'll do next. Enjoy :)

I say...

YAY:
Every time I wash someone's hair with this we come up with something yummy with ever sniff. I say it smells like cake batter although I have heard cookies, cupcakes, brownies... Needless to say, it smells like something you would like to eat.

I usually use the shampoo and conditioner as a combo and it leaves the hair looking incredibly shiny and silky. It looks and feels so healthy. The hair feels soft and light with the air flowing freely. It also leaves a pleasant smell on the hair.

NAY:
I find it hard to say nay about anything other than it seems I have to use more conditioner than I would like. I usually end up adding a little Matrix Conditioning Balm (review coming soon) to the Brunette Goddess Conditioner.

Kudos to Bedhead and Shout Outs to the Brunettes! This Product get an A++

I Can't Help the PJ in ME

The first step is admitting... right?

Okay, well, I said it.. I am a PRODUCT JUNKY!

It's horrible, I go to the hair store and I feel like a kid in a candy shop. I went to two hair stores to get color for a customer. I came out with 4 shampoos, 2 conditioners, Moroccan oil and almost fingernail polish. It's a shame. With that being said, I am going to be reviewing some products after I use them for a little while.

Products:

BEDHEAD Brunette Goddess(shampoo and condish)
Joico Silk Therapy (shampoo and condish)
Matrix Hydratherapy (shampoo and condish balm)
Paul Mitchell Moisture (shampoo)
Paul Mitchell Tea Tree (shampoo and condish)
Yes To Cucumbers (shampoo and condish)

Cantu Leave In Conditioner
Eco Styler Gel (regular)
Kinky Curly Curling Custard

Let me know if you want to know about these products... I'll review them.

Protective Hair Style Dilema

Hello!

Well, I don't have much to say today other than... THIS HAIR ITCHES... I have been so used to wetting my hair all summer whenever I feel like it. However, I have a sew-in like I mentioned before. I really like this hair style but I feel like I'm neglecting my hair. I moisturize it with the Bee Mine Products but I prefer good 'ol H2O.

I am thinking about Cowashing tomorrow, but until then, I shall vent to you all.

I'm not all talk.. I listen :) Tell me your hair woes! (please)

Loco about COCO-nut

My new found love is definitely coconut oil. I just love it.

It works the best on damp hair. The other night, I drenched my hair in it since I hadn't had any coconut oil on my hair all week. I woke up expecting it to still be coating my hair but to my surprise, my hair was thirsty. My hair felt nice and hydrated but without the greasy weight. Just immaculate.

I purchase unrefined raw coconut oil from Whole Foods. Any brand can be purchased as long as it's unrefined and USDA approved.

BLISS: Deep Condition

I am on this all natural kick... and avocado is thee best. I did a deep condition treatment with a fresh avocado, honey, olive oil, and coconut oil last week and it was so wonderful, I can't express it enough.

First of all, the smell was heavenly. I had no clue avocados could taste so nasty but smell sooooo yummy. BLISS

I didn't really measure but I mixed it to get a nice consistency. I could only leave it on for about 20-30 minutes, I was hoping to let it stay for an hour but it was spur of the moment and I had to make a run.

My hair felt very soft after the treatment. It was shiny and very moisturized. Pure... BLISS

It was not difficult to get out but you have to make sure you wash it out just in case. I used a sulfate shampoo.

If you haven't tried it, DO SO.. you are missing out!

Feel Free to share any bliss condish you have.

All NAT-UR-AL

A little about me...

I was natural until about age 8 or 9. I sweat tremendously in my hair and I was in dance so you know the rest... gotta relaxer and all that jazz.

My mother had no clue how to do my hair so I can always remember getting my hair done at the shop. It was a pretty decent length maybe about apl but the relaxer must have been too strong.

I had a bob and wore it natural again, that is until I started gymnastics. It was impossible not to sweat my hair out so I got another relaxer. This time, a success. My hair was very health and growing but it was only about shoulder length.

It was great while I was in gymnastics, but when my mother went to the hospital, I decided to hold off on gymnastics classes. I never returned after she passed away. Later, I decided I would grow out my relaxer since I no longer "needed" it. All in the midst of this, I start cosmetology school, but I still report to the salon every two weeks.

Eventually, after many people telling me how nice I do hair, I decided to work on my own head. I got a sew-in but after I took it out, it was months before I could make time to get a trim. My hair was going through what I like to call as a "retarded" phase. She cut my hair so much, so I guess this was my big chop. It wasn't a inch long or anything but it was pretty short. I think I looked like a boy. (A cute one, of course)

I was devoted to my relaxer free hair but I wasn't taking care of it like I should. But NOW... NOW is a different time and I am fully devoted.

Express your hair stories, I wanna hear em :)

Bee Mine Product Review

Hey!

I have had a chance to review Bee Mine Products. I Have the growth serum with sulfur, avocado conditioner, bee hold curly butter, and the luscious balanced cream moisturizer.

So far, I like. I am trying to grow my hair out so I currently have a sew-in. I do still use the products on my hair that is out and the hair underneath.

Pros:

natural products
smells pretty d.lish
very moisturizing
works well on natural hair

Cons:

causes buildup
slightly greasy

The products have more pros than cons but I ABSOLUTELY hate hair with a lot of product so I am torn to say the least. I have had the opportunity to use this on my cousins hair.

For children, I LOVE this product. I say for children because their hair needs product while it is in ponytails, braids, twists, and all that kiddy-girl stuff. My ten year old cousin loves the fact that the serum says "growth" she makes me put it on her hair everyday and she raves about how good it smells. My younger cousin has very dry hair. It soaks up any moisture but these products make it look shiny and moisturized. I especially like the hold butter to lay down edges and the moisturizer is mainly used on the hair shaft. I have yet to try the conditioner.

If I were a mom, I would def buy these products but right now, with the sew-in, it makes the weave greasy and makes it hard for me to blend my texture.

I will be sure to try it on my fully natural hair.
